Beacon is an open-source layer that sits across your coding agents instead of inside one of them. Hooks, managed plugins and adapters capture full session history from Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, OpenCode, Cline and more than 20 other harnesses, normalize it into one OpenTelemetry-based event model and store it as durable local JSONL traces: prompts, responses, tool calls, commands, edits, approvals, MCP activity and token usage.
On top of that history, Beacon runs a review loop. It surfaces findings in three groups: security (for example a secret pasted into a prompt, a destructive command or a call to an unknown MCP server), skills (workflows you repeat that can become reusable Agent Skills) and behavior (retry loops, abandoned sessions or expensive models used for simple tasks). Knowledge you approve can be retrieved by future agents through MCP or Agent Skills, so a fix learned in one harness is available in another.
The open-source stack is MIT-licensed, needs no account and keeps data on your machine, with export to Elastic, S3 or any OpenTelemetry collector. Note that the interactive endpoint setup signs in through beacon.sh and preselects Beacon Cloud, with an explicit Local opt-out; choose Local if you do not want sessions sent to the hosted service. System, package, MDM and CI install paths are non-interactive and account-free.
Beacon Cloud adds a managed timeline across agents and machines, token-spend views and hosted findings: the free tier includes 50 findings, Cloud Pro ($20/month billed annually) makes them unlimited and adds agent memories and full MCP access, and Enterprise adds approval rules for risky actions, fleet rollout through Jamf, Intune or Fleet, SSO and audit logs. Asymptote Labs announced a $5.5M seed round alongside the October 2026 launch.
