What each product is
Lovable is a full-stack AI development platform for web applications. A prompt produces frontend, backend, database, authentication and integrations backed by editable code, which can sync to GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket.
Replit is a browser-based development and hosting platform. Its documentation describes Replit Agent as a partner that sets up projects, builds applications, checks its own work and fixes problems. Agent can build web apps, mobile apps, slides, designs on a Design Canvas, data visualizations and files such as CSVs, PDFs and PowerPoint documents. Several of these outputs can share one backend inside a project.
How the agents work
Lovable has Plan mode, which costs 1 credit per message and never modifies code, and Build mode, where cost depends on the complexity of the work. Long Build runs pause at a configurable credit check-in level, 20 credits by default.
Replit offers Plan mode for breaking down work before code changes, plus four Agent modes. Free Mode covers no-cost everyday work within your plan's allowance. Auto selects a model for paid work, Power is a paid mid-tier mode, and Max is the paid top tier. Replit asks for confirmation before a paid action starts. Agent creates checkpoints you can roll back to, and Core allows 1 active background task while Pro allows 10.
Pricing models compared
Lovable: Free includes 5 daily build credits (up to 30 a month). Pro starts at $25/month for 100 credits, and Business starts at $50/month for 100 credits. Both scale up to 10,000 credits a month, annual billing gives two months free, and plans are not priced per seat.
Replit: Starter is free. Core is $20/month ($18/month billed annually) and includes up to 30 hours of chat on Free Mode, up to 60 projects on Free Mode, $20 toward more powerful models and unlimited workspaces. Pro is $100/month ($90/month billed annually) and adds more Free Mode usage, $100 toward the most powerful models, up to 15 collaborators, up to 50 viewers, 10 parallel agents and database rollback up to 28 days. Enterprise adds SSO, SCIM, audit logs and single-tenant or private networking options.
- Team cost: Lovable charges by credits shared across unlimited members, while Replit plans are per user.
- Usage control: Lovable has member credit limits and alerts, and Replit requires confirmation before paid Agent actions.
- Included model spend: Replit Core and Pro include $20 or $100 of usage toward more powerful models.
Code, hosting and portability
Lovable syncs code to GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket on every plan and lets Pro and higher plans edit and download code. Apps publish to a live URL, and hosting and backend usage draw from a monthly Cloud grant before general credits.
Replit is itself a full cloud IDE, so you can open and edit the generated code in the same workspace where Agent works. Projects publish from Replit, and connectors such as BigQuery, Linear, Slack and Notion can pull data into the chat.
Governance and security
Lovable Business adds SSO, role-based access and a security center. Enterprise adds SCIM, audit logs and EU inference, and Lovable lists SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001:2022. Replit Enterprise lists SSO, SCIM, audit logs, centralized security management and single-tenant or private networking, and Enterprise workspaces use an Auto mode with admin model controls.
Who should pick which
- Pick Lovable for founders, product and ops teams building web apps who want a predictable shared credit pool and Git-based handoff to engineers.
- Pick Replit if you want web plus mobile apps, slides or data work in one place, a real cloud IDE, and per-user plans with included model spend.
- Developers who mostly write code themselves may prefer Replit's IDE. Non-developers focused on web apps often find Lovable's scope simpler.
The Bottom Line
Lovable is the more focused web app builder, with credit-pooled team pricing and Git sync. Replit is the broader platform, with a full IDE, multi-artifact projects and tiered Agent modes. Choose based on whether you need a web app builder or a complete cloud development environment.
