I’ve been using Amp’s Orbs to send development tasks to the cloud, and the value of the $20/month Megawatt tier has been impressive.
An Orb is a remote, isolated machine for an Amp thread. It gets the repository, tools, and development environment, keeps working when my laptop is closed, and lets me run several independent cloud tasks in parallel. Megawatt currently includes 750 hours per month on small Orbs, which feels close to “always available” for my workflow.
The other part that changes the economics is subscription linking. I can use my linked ChatGPT and Grok subscriptions inside Amp without an additional per-token charge from Amp. Those subscriptions still have their own limits, so this is not literally unlimited, but in everyday use it largely removes the constant “am I about to run out of tokens or credits?” anxiety.
Being able to send work to the cloud and focus on the results instead of watching a meter has been great.
What cloud-agent setups are other members using? Have you tried Amp Orbs, Devin, Cursor cloud agents, or something else? Which option gives you the best balance of reliability, parallelism, and predictable cost? I’d also be interested in any hidden limits or trade-offs you have encountered.
