HyperFrames is an open-source framework from HeyGen for turning HTML, CSS, media and seekable animations into deterministic MP4 videos. A composition is a plain index.html file with data attributes, so there is no build step and no React requirement; the renderer seeks each frame in headless Chrome and encodes it with FFmpeg, so the same input produces the same video. Animations can come from GSAP, CSS animations, Lottie, Three.js, Anime.js, WAAPI or a custom runtime through adapters.
It is built for coding agents. Claude Code users install a versioned plugin from the HyperFrames marketplace, and other agents (Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, OpenCode and others that support skills) install its skills with npx skills add heygen-com/hyperframes. HyperFrames ships 21 published skills led by a /hyperframes router that teaches the agent the production loop: plan the video, write valid HTML, wire seekable animations, add media, lint, preview and render.
Around the rendering engine there is a CLI to scaffold, preview, lint, inspect and render projects, a catalog of reusable blocks (transitions, overlays, captions, charts, maps), a browser-based Studio, an AWS Lambda path for distributed rendering, the hyperframes.dev community playground and frame.md for adapting a design system to video. The project describes itself as inspired by Remotion; the main difference is plain HTML instead of React components, and an Apache 2.0 license instead of Remotion's source-available license.
HyperFrames is free with no per-render fees or commercial-use thresholds. It requires Node.js 22+ and FFmpeg. The CLI collects usage telemetry unless you opt out (command names, render performance, error names and coarse system info, including the name of a detected coding agent; your HeyGen account email is linked only after hyperframes auth login); HYPERFRAMES_NO_TELEMETRY=1, DO_NOT_TRACK=1 or hyperframes telemetry disable turns it off.
