What each product is
Google's docs offer Antigravity on several surfaces: the Antigravity App (desktop for macOS, Windows, Linux and Googlebook), the Antigravity CLI (agy), extensions for VS Code, JetBrains IDEs, Visual Studio, Zed and Xcode, a standalone Antigravity IDE, and a Python SDK (google-antigravity) for building agents. Agents work inside Projects that set repository boundaries and permissions, either in Local mode on your folders or in an isolated Git worktree.
Anthropic describes Claude Code as an agentic coding tool that reads your codebase, edits files, runs commands and integrates with your development tools. It is available as a terminal CLI, VS Code and JetBrains extensions, a desktop app, and on the web at claude.ai/code. Every surface connects to the same engine, so CLAUDE.md files, settings and MCP servers carry across.
Workflow and control
Antigravity's CLI indexes the workspace, drafts an implementation plan and opens an Artifact Review screen where you approve proposed changes. Built-in slash commands include /goal to run a task autonomously until it finishes, /grill-me to have the agent interview you about requirements, /schedule for one-time or cron tasks, /browser for Chrome debugging and research, and /plugin for Marketplace plugins. The SDK supports declarative allow and deny tool policies.
Claude Code plans an approach, writes code across files, verifies it and works directly with git to stage changes, write commits and open pull requests. You can customize it with CLAUDE.md (or an existing AGENTS.md), reusable skills, and hooks that run shell commands before or after actions. It can run parallel agents and background agents, and the Agent SDK lets you build custom agents on Claude Code's tools.
Automation and integrations
Claude Code is built to be scripted. It can be piped into, run headless in CI, used with GitHub Actions or GitLab CI/CD for review and triage, and triggered from Slack by mentioning @Claude. Cloud scheduled tasks keep running when your computer is off. Remote Control and teleport let you move sessions between devices.
Antigravity supports scheduled tasks through /schedule, browser actions through /browser, Marketplace plugins, and MCP servers in SDK pipelines. Sign-in options include personal Google accounts, Gemini Enterprise (Preview), Gemini API keys and Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform (Preview).
Pricing and access
Antigravity's Individual plan is $0/month. It includes access to a variety of agent models, unlimited Tab completions, unlimited Command requests and basic weekly rate limits. Google AI Pro adds higher rate limits and a flexible AI credit pool. Google AI Ultra costs $99.99/month (5x AI Pro usage) or $199.99/month (20x). Businesses can get Antigravity through Google Cloud, and Antigravity's pricing page lists Gemini Enterprise Standard and Plus from $30 per seat per month for eligible customers.
Claude Code is not included in Claude's Free plan. It comes with Pro ($20/month, or $17/month billed annually), Max from $100/month (5x or 20x Pro usage), Team and Enterprise. Enterprise is $20 per seat per month plus usage at API rates. Claude Code shares usage limits with the rest of your plan, and you can also pay as you go through a Console API account.
Who should pick which
- Pick Antigravity if you are in the Google ecosystem, want to start at $0, or need agent support inside Visual Studio, Zed or Xcode.
- Pick Claude Code if the terminal and git are the center of your workflow and you want hooks, skills, CI integration and the Agent SDK.
- Teams can run both and compare them on the same tickets, since each supports MCP and plan-then-review flows.
The Bottom Line
Antigravity has the lower entry cost and the widest IDE reach, backed by Google AI and Gemini Enterprise plans. Claude Code is the more scriptable, terminal-native agent with deep customization. Your ecosystem and how you want to automate will usually decide it.
